What is an Apprenticeship?
An Apprenticeship is essentially a set of qualifications – called a ‘frame work’ – developed by Sector Skills Councils. Most Apprenticeship frameworks follow a standard format that comprises:
- A National Vocational Qualification (NVQ).
- Transferable skills, such as key skills and functional skills A knowledge-based qualification, such as a BTEC.
- Through this process the Apprentice develops skills and knowledge, while the employer provides the practical experience to put those skills to the test. Training can be classroom based, in a workshop or in a workplace, depending on the subject and on the learning provider.
Apprenticeships can help businesses across all sectors by offering a route to harness fresh new talent. Apprentice ships ensure that your workforce has the practical skills and qualifications your organisation requires now and in the future.
Apprenticeships deliver real returns to your bottom line, with Apprentices hips helping to improve productivity and competitiveness. Training apprentices can also be more cost effective than hiring skilled staff, leading to lower over all training and recruitment costs.
