NCFE CACHE Certificate in the Principles of End of Life Care

This qualification is designed to develop learners’ knowledge and understanding of end of life care within health and social care settings. It is intended for those working in healthcare, particularly individuals whose role involves supporting people with life-limiting illnesses, as well as those who wish to build on existing sector-specific qualifications.

The qualification focuses on developing an understanding of the principles of end of life care, including its definition, common issues and approaches, and the importance of providing person-centred support that meets individuals’ physical, emotional, social, spiritual and family needs. It also prepares learners to understand and respond to the impact of death, dying and bereavement.

The overall objectives of the qualification are to equip learners with the knowledge required to deliver compassionate, holistic end of life care while supporting progression into relevant employment and further or higher-level study.

Assessment for this qualification requires learners to complete a portfolio of evidence, which is assessed by centre staff and externally quality assured by NCFE.

As this is a knowledge-only qualification, there is no requirement for learners to complete a work placement or demonstrate competence in a real work environment.
