NCFE CACHE Technical Occupational Entry in Social Care

This qualification is designed to develop the knowledge, understanding and skills required to work competently within a range of social care settings. It is made up of mandatory units that provide learners with a strong foundation in key areas, including working in social care, care and support planning, values and behaviours, mental health

and wellbeing, learning disabilities, dementia awareness, health and safety, infection prevention and control, and personal and professional development.

The qualification focuses on preparing learners for employment by developing the knowledge, skills and behaviours (KSBs) required by the occupational standard. It provides a flexible programme of study for adult learners, supporting the development of practical and technical skills relevant to a variety of social care roles and progression to further study.

The overall objectives of the qualification are to equip learners with the competence required to work effectively in social care settings while providing employers with evidence that learners have met the occupational standard for entry into the role.

Assessment for this qualification requires learners to complete a portfolio of evidence, which is assessed by centre staff and externally quality assured by NCFE, graded as Pass, Merit, Distinction or Distinction*. Learners are also required to complete a minimum of 30 hours of work or practical placement to demonstrate competence in practice.
