Every year in April is Stress Awareness Month – a month where you can check in on your own feelings to see how you are faring, and help and reach out to others who may be experiencing stress or who are going through a tough time in their lives. Stress awareness month has run for over 30 years now, with a different theme each time. This month’s theme is #LeadWithLove – which fits right in with checking on and approaching others and yourself with kindness and compassion, no matter what challenges we may be facing.

Everyone, at some point in their lives, will have felt stressed. One of the aims of this month is to improve the ways we all manage our stress, whether it is stress from our personal lives, or stress from our work lives. Keeping an eye out for signs of stress in ourselves and others is important, and managing these symptoms is essential to making sure that stress doesn’t overtake your life.

Here are some tips for how to manage stress when you feel like it is becoming a bit too much:
• Get a good nights sleep
• Connect with other people, discuss your feelings
• Go outside or be physically active, walking and exercise can help to decompress
• Eat healthily, a good diet can help manage stress levels
• Develop your hobbies and interests, this will help take your mind off of any stress you are feeling

If you want to take part in Stress Awareness Month, you can find details on how you can do that below:

So, this month, make sure to check in with your family, friends and colleagues, extending gestures of kindness wherever possible to help tackle stress.
