Every year we celebrate Time to Talk Day in February, and this year it falls on February 6th . It’s one of the nation’s biggest days to talk about mental health, where we hope that everyone will come together to speak, listen and change the lives of those with mental health issues – creating one of the nation’s biggest conversations about mental health!

In 2024, a survey was completed on Time to Talk Day, which revealed the following:

  • 69% of 16–24-year-olds and 72% of 25-34 year-olds surveyed report they put a brave face on compared to 28% of over 75s.
  • 47% of people surveyed say the pressures of the last few years has made them less likely to open up to avoid worrying others in difficult times.
  • More than half (52%) of UK respondents say that the cost-of-living crisis has impacted their mental health.

So, after these statistics were shared, it was decided that this year’s Time to Talk day is all about getting comfortable, pulling up a chair and sharing your thoughts about mental health! Sometimes it can seem like it is easier to just bottle up our emotions and thoughts, by putting a brave face on and continuing as usual, but this Time to Talk day the aim is to ensure that everyone is reminded that just talking about mental health can have a significant impact – helping to reduce feelings of isolation and loneliness.

Want to get involved? You can take part in many ways – joining an event near you, discussing Time to Talk Day at work or at home, posting about the day on social media, or even just texting a friend and making sure they are okay.
